The Boil
by theadventuresofbeka
This weekend, I was talking to one of my little brothers, and we got on the subject of writing. I explained to him the concept of my blog (he’s in elementary school). He is an aspiring author who dreams of someday being published. He asked that I publish one of his works. He writes poetry and stories, all illustrated by his drawings. Here is the poem he selected to be published here on my blog. It was inspired by Shakespeare’s “Double, double, toil and trouble…”. Yes, my elementary-aged brother reads excerpts from Shakespeare.
The Boil
Boil, bake, boil, boil,
Hard crust and mushy oil.
Puff of flour and speck of spice,
144 strands of rice,
Box of sugar and half a banana,
Part of apple and bits of manna,
Then put it in a pot and boil, boil,
Make a fire, and put in oil…

Bekahhhh!!! That’s so cute and actually pretty good.
He is actually really talented, especially for his age!
Incredible!!
Please tell T.T. that Uncle JJ thoroughly enjoyed his poem and is very proud to see his first published piece.
His wordsmithing is very crafty and advanced for someone so young.
By all means, keep it up, young man!
I will definitely do so!
Kudos to young T.T. Dennis.
It’s even better than Shakespeare, though I did miss the inclusion of baboon’s blood ( it’s so versatile).
I will pass the word on to him – he’s thrilled that other people are reading his poem!
